BIOGRAPHY
Rhys Hastings is a devoted touring and studio drummer celebrated for his individualistic and highly musical approach to the instrument. His dedication has earned him work on stage and in studio with an array of esteemed artists, including: Yves Tumor, Melanie Martinez, Angel Olsen, Kim Gordon, Mark Ronson, Ashton Irwin and Tobias Jesso Jr. He has performed in over 30 different countries and supported on tour Nine Inch Nails, Morrissey, Florence + the Machine and St. Vincent. Rhys has played Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Roskilde, Fuji Rock and Primavera Sound, among many other global music festivals. He’s also performed on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Late Night with Seth Meyers.
From a young age, Rhys was an avid student of all things drums and in 2007 pursued a Jazz Performance degree at The City College of New York in Harlem. There he had the privilege of studying under heavyweight players John Patitucci, Tony Moreno and Vanderlei Pereira. He moved to Los Angeles in 2010, where he’s been deeply involved in the city’s thriving and diverse music scene ever since. When home from touring, Rhys is in the studio writing and recording for various projects and teaching private drum lessons. He is committed to continual growth with a focus on serving the song, the artist and the community.
